Taiwan Travels

After a long 14 hour flight, I arrived in Tapei at 5am local time. The city is super clean with gashapon around every corner. It was a quick journey over to the high speed rail (an actual shinkansen from Japan that travels north to south of the island). The ride to Taichung City was about 45 minutes vs 1.5 hours in a car.

The first stop was to get some American-Taiwanese fusion breakfast. That afternoon, I was able to get together with some bike industry folks to jam out in a music rental room.

During the week, I visited with all of our suppliers, including manufacturers of the frame, fork, handlebar, and wheelset, as well as the complete bike assembler. We fine tuned the details of the 2024 complete Kyoot bike.

I was able to borrow a bike and explore the city. There was so much delicious, affordable food and the people were very friendly.

On Saturday I went on a hike with a friend and his family near Bald Peak. It was about an hour and a half to get the mountains, but it was well worth it. The huge redwood-like trees towered over us. Out in the mountains they grow Asian pears, which we were able to eat fresh. They were tasty.

On Sunday I made the journey back to Taipei and headed home the next day.

Overall it was a great and productive trip. Taiwan is an awesome country. I have so much respect for their people and independence!
